    This recording is Miles Davis's brilliant interpretation of Rodrigo's 'Concerto De Aranjuez'. I first heard 'sketches Of Spain' in the early 60's and loved it. The arrangement is extraordinary and any one who listens to Miles Davis should have this recording in their collection/5().

    In fact, Miles himself had simultaneously discovered Joaquin Rodrigo’s “Concierto De Aranjuez” and flamenco—thanks to both an anthology brought back from Spain by the actress Beverly Bentley and a concert to which Frances Taylor had taken him.

    Sketches of Spain is the most luxuriant and stridently romantic recording Davis ever made. To listen to it in the 21st century is still a spine-tingling experience, as one encounters a multitude of timbres, tonalities, and harmonic structures seldom found in the music called jazz.
